As with many people, this was the first graphic novel/comic book I ever read, and it opened a door for many more. Over time it has turned into one of my favorite pieces of literature, and has also lead to many a debate with friends, everything from whether Dr. Manhattan was (spoiler!!) justified in killing Rorschach, to whether the movie holds up to the graphic novel (I say, yes, it does, but that's another post for another time). Anyhow, as with most books, I'm in for an emotional ride.
