Everyone knows my not-so-secret-secret love for big band and swing, right?
Good. Because I've been listening to Benny Goodman.
"Sing, Sing, Sing" by Benny Goodman
Check out those drums!
One of my favorite songs from the big band era. Funny that there no vocals when the song is called "Sing, Sing, Sing." Either way, I love it. Makes me want to just sit back and wish I lived in this era.
I would pay to see this made into a real movie. This faux-trailer is so well done that I'm a little sad it's not real. Two of my favorite comic book characters battling it out with no holds barred? Only makes you wonder which one will make it out alive and in one piece.
Yesterday Denton had a brief, but brutal, thunderstorm. I sat in front of my window, watching it, and listened to The Black Dahlia Murder until it was over.
"I Worship Only What You Bleed" by The Black Dahlia Murder
I'm hoping for a Behemoth storm today, maybe even a Heaven Shall Burn one.
And time rolls around for another birthday of a wonderful person...
Yep, our dear friend Charlie Chaplin turns 122 today. The only other man who could pull off a Hitler 'stach besides Hitler himself.
I also recommend this video. I'm not able to embed it, so click on the link.
If you can, find the movie City Lights and watch it. Yes, it is in black and white and silent (as most Charlie Chaplin movies are), but it is adorable and arguably Chaplin's greatest film.
Anyone have any favorite Chaplin movies or moments?
One of my favorite movie parody (for the lack of a better word) groups is How It Should Have Ended. They make alternate endings for major movies. In their newest video, they take on Scream.
Day Twenty-Five: A song you could listen to all day and not get tired of.
"Buried Alive" by Creature Feature
Guess how many of Edgar Allan Poe's works are mentioned in this song. That's what I like most about "Buried Alive." I've had friends ask me, "Why do you like a song about being buried alive? Why do you want to be buried alive?"
Ah, my friends. It's not about that. It's just homage to one of the most awesome crazy authors we will ever know.
And with that, I conclude my 25 Days of Song. 'Tis over. I kind of like these 30 day challenges, but I won't start another until next month. Any thoughts, agreements, or arguments on the songs I picked?
Day Twenty-Four: A song you have danced to with your best friend.
"Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" by Brenda Lee
Every year, my sister and I get a little crazy when it's really close to Christmas. Armed with Sirius XM, we dance around my parent's living room. Good times.
Day Twenty-Two: A song that someone has sung to you.
"Through Glass" by Stone Sour
I actually had a parody of this song sung to me for a friend's project he had to do for one of his classes. He only sang a little bit of the beginning, and we changed it to a song from a stalker's perspective.
I was the one being stalked.
Yeah, so that's what happens if you stalk me. No lie.
