Finally Got the Beak On

I feel like I'm behind schedule, even though I have no schedule.

I always thought the raptors were the best part of Jurassic Park. It's quite awesome to get a behind the scenes look at how they came about.

Huh. Well I Was Not Expecting This

This was in front of my door when I went to go get my paper this morning.

Of all the things to expect, this was not one of them. First, it's not my birthday for another seven or so months. Second, I have never cooked anything on an actual grill. Third, I don't know anyone in my apartment building. Someone is either very confused or I just got a free grill. Mostly likely both.  On the plus side, it's in pretty good shape, and it appears like it hasn't been used much (as if the layers of dust didn't tell you that).

New Mask Project Underway

While I figure out what pieces to put together to make an awesome costume, I begin work on another mask; this time, with a few modifications.

I did the same thing I did as last time: I used a piece of tin foil to make a "mold" of my face, and then started working from there. However, this time I decided to cut out the eye holes after I got on the beginning layers of paper mache. 

After the three layers had dried, I used an Exacto knife to smooth out the edges and remove any weird overhangs. 

I then made an approximation of where the eyes would be and cut out two holes to begin with. 

After that, necessary adjustments were made in widening the eye sockets so I would be able to actually see. Next up is the beak, but I don't think I will have time to get to it until later next week.

I'm not sure if I mean that sarcastically or not.

I ended up with a band by the name of Sri Lanka Navy with an album called "Innocent as Doves", which, actually, wouldn't make a bad title.
