Childhood
The Soul of a Horse taken by Peter Thomann
Gah, this hits me right in the emotions. I remember riding horses as a child on my parent's ranch. Fun times, those were. Unfortunately, ranch was sold and the horses too. I miss those days. There's nothing more free than the open country. Very peaceful and quiet too, when the wind isn't blowing. All part of living in Texas. I remember I used to think when I was older I would take over the ranch to keep it alive and in the family, but that obviously didn't happen. Now I'm living in the city and have no idea what goes on over there.
When it would snow, we would go out and find a hill and sled all afternoon. Once I ran into my sister while she was standing at the base. I bet she remembers. Once we tried snowboarding, but it didn't work out so well. The hills weren't steep enough and the snow wasn't thick enough to protect us from the huge rocks underneath. I had a bruise the size of a softball on my thigh for the next few days. One of the last times it snowed before we moved, we took the top off a water tank (they kind of look like this) and tied it to a four wheeler. Needless to say, sharp turns and deep ditches make it hard to hold on.
Summers kind of sucked due to the heat, but the nights were wonderful and stargazing was magnificent. There, Orion became my favorite constellation and swimming became my favorite pastime. I'm pretty sure I have cancer from spending so much time outside. Hide and seek was amazing and the cats were constantly multiplying. There were Indian bones in the creek beds and snapping turtles in the ponds. There were wild berry bushes and yucca plants that would randomly catch on fire (I've never figured that one out). There were cattle brandings in the spring and harvesting in the fall. We had our own tiny landfill, and I'm pretty sure there was also a ghost in the attic, but no one ever said anything about it.
I really, really fucking miss those days.
Yep. Right in the emotions.
On a side note, my reading list just grew by five books.

All Hope Is (Not) Gone
Aha! My ghost hunting buddy came through and is planning to come by tonight for some paranormal activity. This makes me incredibly excited, and now I'm in a rush to make sure everything is charged and ready to go when he gets here. I haven't been ghost hunting in a while, and have become "paranormally frustrated", as I like to say. But tonight is looking good, and I'm hoping the wind does not pick up too bad. I really would love to be able to properly test my new recorder. Our testing grounds are outside, but eighty percent of the time we get results, so there you go. On the flip side to that, this might be the only ghost hunting trip for a while, since he works and my summer classes start in a week and a half. Weekends, as always, are the only hope. Well, you get what you can, right?

Goth It Out
Happy World Goth Day! I hope it's filled with darkness and gloom. A picnic at the local cemetery, perhaps? Sounds absolutely lovely. I'll bring the wine and the glasses. You got the food, right? Good, I love Italian. We shall have a grand time.
Speaking of cemeteries, I'm dying (no pun intended. I didn't realize I wrote that until I started proofreading) to get some ghost hunting in before summer classes start. My usual ghost hunting buddy is stuck an hour away with no car, so I'm thinking about hitting up the local online scene and seeing if there's any willing bodies to come test equipment with me. So... if you're in the Denton, Texas, area... hit me up. These next two weeks are open and free.
And finally....
My Creature Feature hoodie came in the mail yesterday! Very exciting. Not that I can wear it outside in the Texas heat, but, I have it nonetheless.
Awww yeah.
Freddy's liking it as well.
Now, I'm off to ghastly things.

Feeling A Bit Silly Today
"Murmaider" by Dethklok
Applied for another job this morning as a "Reservation Specialist" for the university. I love feeling productive before noon. Now, what to do for the rest of the day??
Horror movie marathon! Starting with Creepshow.

And perhaps a bit of "Tales from the Crypt" thrown in for good measure.
Today's gonna be a good day.

And The Loves Grow
Freddy has got a new friend. One who understands the plight of not always winning.
Did anyone else see either movie? What were your thoughts?
Loki, Loki, Loki. You are now added to my collection.
Yes, droogs, I finally got to see The Avengers. I would readily watch it again. I'm not a big Marvel fan, but it was quite engaging, but I do like Iron Man. And obviously, Loki.
I also got to see Dark Shadows, as it opened this week. And.... I should have seen Avengers again. Don't get me wrong, the acting and the visuals were great, but the story line was too compact and confusing. Okay, I get there's a witch and a vampire throughout the whole movie. Why the hell is there a werewolf in the last fifteen or so minutes? It should have been a trilogy or something, but I don't know if that would have helped. Shadows was shorter than Avengers, but it felt twice as long. Although I quite enjoyed Jackie Earle Haley's character.

Studying in the Dark
Soft, slightly depressing classical music is getting me in the mood for finals. That's all I've been doing for the past week and that's all I'm doing for the next four days. After that, my parents may or may not get surprise visit for Mother's Day. Then, more job searching. The library position is not looking to be my ticket. Now I'm eyeing a desk clerk job that promises not to get in the way of summer classes. Just got to get a cover letter done, and I'm good to go.
Perseverance, my friends!
On a sidenote, there is a high possibility I will get to see both The Avengers and Dark Shadows this weekend. Loki, Johnny Depp, and JEH! Yet again, finals are in the way.
Oh, the horror!

Na (x12)
That's right everybody, it's Batman Day. A day for fighting crime and talking in gruff voices. So let us take a moment (read: two and a half hours) to honor this hero by watching Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Tonight, let's keep the streets clean and just let Batman watch the game, mmkay?
Now, on to studying for finals.
Whoever "R. Mais" is, this is their artwork. Apparently my web searching abilities are not good enough to find them online.
Now, on to studying for finals.
